NOW/HERE is a kinetic neon artwork programmed to rewrite its own text at random, varying the speed at which individual letters and words light up. As the timing shifts, so does the meaning: a message gradually emerges, only to dissolve again, giving rise to nonsensical poetry and acronyms. Drawing on the aesthetics and language of illuminated marketing signage, the work balances place, being, and meaning.
