Lines (Miami Beach) is a collaborative work by Timo Aho and Pekka Niittyvirta
Materials: LED-lights, aluminium channels, stands, Arduino & timer, shipping container
Lines (Miami Beach) calculates the tidal changes and activates two synchronized lines of light on the rising tide, representing the predicted future sea level rise caused by the climate change. The work helps us to imagine the future sea level rise by the end of 21st century, depending on our actions towards the climate warming. The installation explores the catastrophic impact of our relationship with nature and its long term effects. The work provokes a dialogue on how the rising sea levels will affect coastal areas, its inhabitants and land usage in the future.
Presented as part of Monuments program at Untitled Art Miami, commissioned by FB Art department.
