Back in the day, there were wooden residential buildings in this area that housed workers, fishermen, and seamen. The buildings were demolished, and the first section of the Cable Factory was constructed in their place in 1919. The manufacture of light bulbs began at the beginning of World War II. Later, the building was turned into the first modern industrial building in Finland, where Nokia made the decision to diversify their business into electronics. At present, the building hosts people and organizations from the creative sectors.
